Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Vernon vs. Center Point-Urbana

The Mt. Vernon Mustangs will take on the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Vernon is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.

While Mt. Vernon's win against Williamsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Raiders 2-1.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Center Point-Urbana's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. Neither they nor Marion could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result kept Center Point-Urbana happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 5th.

Mt. Vernon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1-2. Center Point-Urbana's draw makes their record 7-3-1 this season.

Mt. Vernon couldn't quite get it done against Center Point-Urbana in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
