Basketball Game Preview: Lenoir City Panthers vs. South-Doyle Cherokees

The Lenoir City Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Lenoir City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Loudon. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 57-34 margin over the Chiefs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cherokees have posted since November 30, 2024.

Lenoir City better keep an eye on Payton Rollins. She was instrumental in South-Doyle's win, going 9 for 16 on her way to 28 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rollins has scored at least a third of South-Doyle's points. Veda Farr was another key player, putting up eight points.

Lenoir City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for South-Doyle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Lenoir City was able to grind out a solid win over South-Doyle in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 59-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rollins, who went 9 of 18 en route to 29 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
