Baseball Game Preview: Pierson Whalers vs. Mattituck Tuckers

The Pierson Whalers will face off against the Mattituck Tuckers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pierson managed to slip by Port Jefferson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Whalers came up short against the Royals on Friday, falling 11-1. The Whalers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Pierson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Mitchell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Andy Wayne was another, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Mattituck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 13-4 to Babylon.

Trey Hansen was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Voegel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Pierson now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Mattituck, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Pierson skirted past Mattituck 1-0 in their previous meeting on April 2nd. Will the Whalers repeat their success, or do the Tuckers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
