Basketball Game Preview: Central Christian Academy Lions vs. Central Raiders

The Central Christian Academy Lions will square off against the Central Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Central Christian Academy is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Bennington on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Central Christian Academy was beaten by Bennington 57-25. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 58th).

Central Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laila Hernandez, who posted nine points along with seven boards and four blocks, and Avery Luckner, who put up six points. With that strong performance, Hernandez is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-45 heartbreaker at the hands of Udall.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Central Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
