Volleyball Recap: Ansonia Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dani Gibbs and Lydia Hahn + How To Watch

After flying high against Tri-County North last Thursday, Ansonia came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Arcanum Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Trojans when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ansonia wouldn't go down easily and took Arcanum into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 16-25, 15-5.

Lydia Hahn and Dani Gibbs certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hahn had 18 digs and three aces, while Gibbs had four aces and three digs. Hahn has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 14 times she's played.

Leading Arcanum to victory were Grace Fry and Jordyn Garbig. Fry had three digs and two aces, while Garbig had nine digs. Halle Bennett also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Ansonia's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Arcanum, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Ansonia has already played their next game (against Springfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Arcanum, they will face off against Franklin Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
