Basketball Recap: Brawley Wildcats vs. Calipatria Hornets
The Brawley Wildcats lost against the Calipatria Hornets last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Brawley fell 53-40 to the Hornets. Brawley has struggled against the Hornets recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Brawley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Domanic Vallejo, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Vallejo has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Desmond Thomas, who scored nine points.
Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Calipatria, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brawley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Imperial has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 495 points over their last eight games. As for Calipatria, they will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Southwest SD sitting on 14 straight victories and the Hornets on seven.
