Atholton came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hammond Golden Bears. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 last Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Jack Martin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Atholton: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was William Conroy, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Atholton's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Hammond, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Atholton will face off against Centennial at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Hammond does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
