Basketball Recap: Manteo Starts Season with Win Against Cape Hatteras + How To Watch

Manteo had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 69-47 margin over the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes. The Redskins not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since December 13, 2024 (when they won 92-56).

Leading Manteo to victory were Nehemiah Gibbs and Zay Banks. Gibbs shot 71% from the field to rack up 10 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Banks posted 18 points and three blocks. Banks' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Jaheem Banks was another key player, putting up seven points.

Manteo was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Hatteras only posted five.

Cape Hatteras lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brody Paddock, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Wyatt, who had 13 points.

Cape Hatteras is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Manteo has already played their next contest, a 60-46 victory against Columbia on the 4th. As for Cape Hatteras, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-41 defeat against Hertford County on the 3rd.
