Basketball Recap: Vista PEAK Prep Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Knakai Starks and Amirah Pena

Vista PEAK Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northfield Nighthawks. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Vista PEAK Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Amirah Pena and Knakai Starks. Pena posted 11 points, while Starks had 12 points.

Aliyah Herron was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds for Northfield. Herron has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was LaPorsha Allen, who earned six points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Vista PEAK Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Northfield, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Vista PEAK Prep is taking a road trip to challenge Rangeview at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. Vista PEAK Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Northfield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-31 win against Denver South on the 24th.
