Basketball Recap: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Wilkinson County Wildcats
The Loyd Star Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wilkinson County 58-16 at home. The victory was some much needed relief for Loyd Star as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Loyd Star was led to victory by Maddie Kate Britt and Natalie Womack. Britt scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Womack scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Lydia Bass, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win got Loyd Star back to even at 9-9. As for Wilkinson County, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.
Loyd Star will take on the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bogue Chitto will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Wilkinson County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m.
