Football Recap: Anacostia Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cardozo last Friday, Anacostia came back down to earth. The Indians took a 22-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ron Brown Monarchs on Friday. Despite 61 more yards than the Monarchs, the Indians couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Anacostia lost, don't look at Terrence Scales. Despite the final result, he rushed for 157 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.

Leading Ron Brown to victory were Davieon Brown and Syncere Young. Brown threw for 147 yards and two TDs on only 11 passes, while Young gained 60 total yards and a touchdown.

Anacostia has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Ron Brown, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Anacostia is set to square off against their familiar foe Bell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ron Brown will face off against rival Cardozo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
