Softball Recap: Kamiak Triumphs

After only two runs in their last contest, Kamiak made sure to put some runs up on the board against Edmonds-Woodway on Saturday. The Knights walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Warriors. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Gabby Veighey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Veighey was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Stansfield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Synclair Mawudeku, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Kamiak and bumps their season record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Edmonds-Woodway, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Coming up, Kamiak will be playing in front of their home fans against Snohomish at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Edmonds-Woodway, they will take on Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
