Basketball Recap: Enloe Comes Up Short

Enloe was the 56-53 winner over Fuquay - Varina when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 68-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bengals on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Enloe lost, don't look at Derryck Nzoungou. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Nzoungou also put up a steal, which was his first of the season. Daniel Harvin was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Fuquay - Varina had a senior duo take command as Abdou Diop went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Beckett Coon shot 75% from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points. Those 75% three-point shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Coon. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Coon, who posted 13 points.

Enloe's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Fuquay - Varina, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Enloe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-38 win against Wake Forest on the 3rd. As for Fuquay - Varina, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Willow Spring at 8:00 p.m. The Bengals' defense better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 68 points per game this season.
