Softball Recap: Liberty-Benton Has No Trouble Against Riverdale

Liberty-Benton barely beat Riverdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Falcons on Monday. Considering the Eagles have won 12 games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Liberty-Benton got a massive performance out of Kylie Steinman, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Liberty-Benton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive matchups.

Liberty-Benton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Riverdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty-Benton will face off against Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverdale, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m.
