Basketball Recap: Highlands Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Highlands extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 3-1. They blew past the Stockton Christian Eagles 53-30. The matchup was close at halftime, but the Scots turned on the heat in the second half with 34 points.

It was another big night for K O Butler, who almost dropped a double-double with nine boards and 13 steals. Those 13 steals gave him a new career-high. JaMarr Mack Jr was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds.

Highlands smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

As for Stockton Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Stockton Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenneth Hampton, who posted four points, and Corbin Moore, who scored five points and five boards. Moore has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Coming up, Highlands will head out to face off against Mira Loma at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Stockton Christian, they have already played their next matchup, a 50-47 victory against Lodi Academy on the 8th.
