Baseball Game Preview: Cooper Cougars vs. Coronado Mustangs

For the second straight game, Cooper will face off against Coronado. The Cougars will square off against the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cooper's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Coronado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cooper heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They fell 3-0 to Coronado. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

For Coronado's part, Cooper's batters probably weren't too happy with Isaiah Vazquez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up two walks).

On the hitting side, Coronado saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Trevino, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Campbell Stanek also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coronado is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Cooper, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
