On Monday, York Institute faced Cookeville in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The York Institute Dragons managed a 54-49 win over the Cookeville Cavaliers. The Dragons are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Roby, who posted 15 points. That's the most points Roby has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macy Hudson, who had 11 points.

York Institute's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.6 points. As for Cookeville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.

York Institute has already played their next game, a 91-21 win against Monterey on the 11th. As for Cookeville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-19 victory against Smyrna on the 11th.
