Softball Recap: Estancia Takes a Loss

Estancia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies, falling 12-6. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Grizzlies from their previous meeting back in April of 2018.

Jaydin McClure put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and 11 unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Heather Fultz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Estancia's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Godinez Fundamental, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estancia will challenge Orange at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.07 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will take on Westminster at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
