Football Recap: Danville Starts off Right with Win over Worthington Christian

Danville had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Worthington Christian Warriors with a sharp 35-13 victory. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cyren Wallace had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Danville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Danville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Wesley Payne, Christopher Mosher, and Briggs Wallace picked up one apiece.

Looking ahead, Danville will square off against Utica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Worthington Christian, they will take on Bexley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
