Basketball Preview: Telfair County Trojans vs. Dodge County Indians
Telfair County hasn't had much luck against Dodge County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Telfair County Trojans will take on the Dodge County Indians in a holiday battle at at 5:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
While Telfair County is heading in to the matchup without a victory, things might be looking up considering their last game was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Appling County. One positive for the Trojans, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ben Rogers, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 20 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Christon Zanders, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Telfair County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dodge County came up short against Fitzgerald on Thursday and fell 63-55. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Telfair County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Dodge County, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Telfair County beat Dodge County 68-60 in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Telfair County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
