Baseball Recap: Holy Name Takes a Loss

Holy Name fell victim to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Lions. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Dom Marchetta was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Holy Name saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Nemeth, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Holy Name's loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

While Holy Name had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
