Softball Recap: Our Lady of Tepeyac Takes a Loss

Our Lady of Tepeyac extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against the Walther Christian Academy Broncos, falling 14-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 18-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Walther Christian Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Considering they have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Walther Christian Academy's part, Isabella Ziupsnys made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Ziupsnys has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selah Argueta, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Leslie Anguiano, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Our Lady of Tepeyac will head out on the road to square off against Northtown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Walther Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Rickover Naval at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
