Basketball Recap: Cami Courtad's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hawken over Beaumont School

Hawken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 34-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beaumont School Blue Streaks.

Hawken lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cami Courtad, who posted four points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Courtad a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Liu, who put up seven points along with five boards and five steals.

Beaumont School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maria Goske out in front who had 13 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Goske has scored at least a third of Beaumont School's points. Mary Kate Klug was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Hawken's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Beaumont School, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.

Hawken and Beaumont School could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Hawken (ranked 748th) will meet Perry (ranked 239th) at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Beaumont School will square off against Elyria Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 453 places (527 vs. 74).
