Volleyball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short

Alton had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Belleville West Maroons by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on April 1st.

As for Belleville West, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 27, 2024.

Belleville West can attribute much of their success to Mika Mariles, who had four digs and three aces. What's more, Mariles posted two assists, the most he's had over his last eight matches.

Alton has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Whitfield on the 23rd. As for Belleville West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Althoff Catholic on the 24th.
