Basketball Recap: Williams Victorious

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Williams's strategy against Grand Canyon on Monday. The Williams Vikings rang in the new year with a 45-36 victory over the Grand Canyon Phantoms. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Grand Canyon still got an impressive performance from Jaemie Jensen, who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. That was a full 66.7% of Grand Canyon's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anmber Charley, who had four points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

The win made it two in a row for Williams and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Grand Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

As for Grand Canyon, they will head out to face off against Greyhills Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Canyon is facing Greyhills Academy at the right time seeing as Greyhills Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
