Baseball Recap: Hayward Wins Going Away Against Cameron

Hayward's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Cameron Comets 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won six in a row.

Tyler Eaton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trenton Kirkland, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Kyle Gajewski also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Hayward always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron only posted an OBP of .300.

Hayward's win bumped their record up to 15-8-1. As for Cameron, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hayward is set to take on their familiar foe Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cameron will face off against rival St. Croix Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
