Edwardsville and Granite City are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Edwardsville Tigers will face off against the Granite City Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Edwardsville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.

Last Friday, Edwardsville didn't have too much trouble with Belleville West as they won 57-40. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Maroons are ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Granite City lost to Lift for Life Academy on the road by a 71-57 margin on Friday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Granite City's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Edwardsville, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Edwardsville came up short against Granite City in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 47-43. Can Edwardsville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
