Baseball Game Preview: Howards Grove Tigers vs. Sheboygan Area Lutheran Crusaders

For the second straight game, Howards Grove will face off against Sheboygan Area Lutheran. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Howards Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sheboygan Area Lutheran get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Monday. The Tigers have beaten the Crusaders the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Crusaders has come to flipping the script.

Jameson Schmidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Braven Wilson was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Howards Grove is 2-1 when Wilson posts two or more runs, but 3-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Miller, who earned four RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases.

Howards Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Sheboygan Area Lutheran's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Howards Grove, their record is now 5-18.
