The Severance Silver Knights will face off against the Greeley Central Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Severance is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Last Monday, Severance made easy work of Wellington and carried off a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Silver Knights, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brady Iversen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dom Rice, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Mann, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Greeley Central not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024 (when they won 21-1). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Northridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Angel Lopez-Meza made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Lopez-Meza was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Greeley Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-18 when he doesn't).
Lopez-Meza wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Partida, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Partida has become a key player for Greeley Central: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-18 otherwise. Another was Luis Perez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Greeley Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Severance's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Greeley Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-19.
Everything went Severance's way against Greeley Central in their previous meeting back in April, as Severance made off with a 15-1 win. Do the Silver Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
