Baseball Game Preview: Colonia Patriots vs. Middlesex Bluejays

Colonia is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Middlesex is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Patriots will welcome the Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Colonia 1.9, Middlesex 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Saturday, Colonia made easy work of Ferris and carried off a 15-5 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Middlesex won against North Hunterdon on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bluejays beat Delbarton by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3.

Colonia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Middlesex, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Colonia couldn't quite finish off Middlesex in their previous meeting back in April and fell 2-0. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
