It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Early ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Eastland Mavericks 5-4. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Skyden Stoddart, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Early's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Eastland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-2 record this season.

Early will have a chance to go back-to-back against Eastland: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
