The Meadows School Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Boulder City Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The Meadows School will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
The Meadows School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pahrump Valley 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Trojans since April 19, 2024.
Keegan Sabelko tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mox Hoy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Boulder City and Virgin Valley, and Boulder City kept the tradition alive. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-7 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Gavin Robinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off only two hits. Robinson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Ethan Wagstaff was excellent, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Boulder City is undefeated when Wagstaff posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Law, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Boulder City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The Meadows School's record is now 15-12. As for Boulder City, their record now sits at 16-11.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. The Meadows School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Boulder City struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
The Meadows School might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Boulder City in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
