Volleyball Recap: Corona Panthers vs. Roosevelt Mustangs
Corona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Roosevelt Mustangs, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-15.
Max Lopez was the offensive standout of the game as he had six digs and two aces. What's more, he posted three assists, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Mick Chen also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.
Corona's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Roosevelt, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Coming up, Corona will take on Hawthorne Math & Science Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy is coming into the matchup with five straight victories on the road, so Corona will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Roosevelt, they will venture away from home to challenge Rancho Cucamonga at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Rancho Cucamonga has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
