Baseball Recap: Purcell Wins Going Away Against Plainview

Purcell's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Plainview Indians as the Purcell Dragons made off with a 12-3 win. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Kash Knowles and Boston Knowles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Knowles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Boston tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Knowles scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3, while Boston scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Boston also scored two runs, which is notable because Purcell is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cooper Selman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Purcell is undefeated when Selman posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryson Perkins, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Purcell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Purcell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. Purcell will look to defend their home field on Monday against Chandler at 5:00 p.m. As for Plainview, they will host Warner at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Plainview has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
