It was a proper cat-fight when Chilton duked it out with Brillion on Tuesday. The Tigers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Chilton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gwendolyn Sell, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Alayna Glidden was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
This is the second loss in a row for Chilton and nudges their season record down to 4-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Brillion, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chilton is set to challenge their familiar foe Roncalli at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Brillion will face off against rival Valders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2.9, the Vikings 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
