Basketball Recap: Citrus Hill Hawks vs. Canyon Springs Cougars
Citrus Hill lost against Canyon Springs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Citrus Hill Hawks took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canyon Springs Cougars.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerren White, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 steals. White has been hot , having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kason Steward, who went 7 for 9 en route to 17 points plus two steals and two blocks.
Canyon Springs found their leader in sophomore Gabriel Serrato, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Derek Williams was another key player, earning eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Citrus Hill's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Canyon Springs, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Citrus Hill and Great Oak will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Canyon Springs, they will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Citrus Valley at 4:00 p.m.
