Basketball Recap: Union Grove Comes Up Short

After flying high against Locust Grove last Friday, Union Grove came back down to earth. The Union Grove Wolverines took a blow against the Kell Longhorns on Tuesday, falling 73-42. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layla Adams, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Maegan Jenkins, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Union Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Union Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Kell, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Union Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-38 win against Eagle's Landing on the 13th. As for Kell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-41 defeat against Norcross on the 14th.
