Softball Recap: Riley County Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The third road game was the charm for Riley County, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Perry-Lecompton Kaws on Monday, sneaking past 3-1.

Addy Zeller made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Gracie Scofield was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Riley County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Riley County's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Perry-Lecompton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Kaws beat Riley County by a score of 10-4 later that day.
