Hartsville extends road losing streak to five

Recap: Hartsville Red Foxes vs. Ridge View Blazers

This season hasn't been kind to the Hartsville Red Foxes, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They were dealt a 87-58 defeat at the hands of Ridge View on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Hartsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Ridge View is ranked first).

Hartsville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was EJ Smith, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Hawkins, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, Hartsville were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hartsville bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ridge View, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Hartsville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fairfield Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Ridge View and River Bluff will round out the year against one another at 8:40 p.m. on December 27th at. River Bluff has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 284 points over their last four contests.
