Basketball Game Preview: Delano Tigers vs. Foothill Trojans

Delano has gone 7-2 against Foothill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Delano has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three matchups.

While Delano didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 victory over Orange Cove on Wednesday. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Delano's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eduardo Mendoza led the charge by putting up 17 points. Those 17 points gave Mendoza a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Amodo, who posted 15 points and six rebounds.

Delano was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Foothill had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Taft on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Delano is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
