Baseball Game Preview: Mize Bulldogs vs. Sumrall Bobcats

Mize is 0-6 against Sumrall since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Mize is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Mize's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Brandon hitters got past them. Mize came up short against Brandon on Saturday, falling 12-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Mize has suffered since February 22nd.

Meanwhile, Sumrall had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pirates 7-5.

The team relied heavily on Drew Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hawkins, who scored a run and stole a base.

Mize's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Sumrall, their win bumped their record up to an identical 18-7.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mize hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Sumrall struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
