Softball Recap: The Villages Charter Takes a Loss

If The Villages Charter was riding high fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Lecanto last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Villages Charter Buffalo fell just short of the South Sumter Raiders by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Buffalo haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Layla Farrish made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

The Villages Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for South Sumter, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Villages Charter will welcome Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Villages Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Lake Minneola's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Sumter, they will be playing at home against Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eustis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
