The Thomson Bulldogs will take on the Pike County Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Thomson's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six games.

Thomson is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Burke County just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bulldogs, who fell 24-21 when the teams last met back in August of 2022.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Anthony Jeffery and A'Merre Williams. Williams had a great game and gained 263 total yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jeffery was balling out in the loss, rushing for 179 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

Even though they lost, Thomson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 207 rushing yards in five consecutive matches.

Pike County wouldn't let Rutland keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Gray Cook led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself. Another thorn in Rutland's side was Maddox Storm, who made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Thomson's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Pike County, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
