Football Game Recap: Sunnyside Christian Knights vs. Pomeroy Pirates

After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matchups, The Sunnyside Christian Knights finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were dealt a 62-0 loss at the hands of Pomeroy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sunnyside Christian in their matchups with Pomeroy: they've now lost four in a row.

Oliver Severs was his usual excellent self, rushing for 190 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 carries. Severs hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Walker Flynn and his 89 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Pomeroy's victory.

Sunnyside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Pomeroy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside Christian will face off against DeSales at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pomeroy, they will head out on the road to face off against Yakama Nation Tribal at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Yakama Nation Tribal: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Pomeroy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
