Basketball Game Preview: Dorman Cavaliers vs. James F. Byrnes Rebels

Dorman and James F. Byrnes are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Dorman Cavaliers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the James F. Byrnes Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Dorman is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Dorman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Gaffney, who was ranked sixth at the time (Dorman was ranked 22nd). Dorman came out on top against Gaffney by a score of 65-58 on Thursday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dorman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan White, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 20 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. White's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Moore, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and five steals.

Dorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for James F. Byrnes, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They managed a 53-47 win over Spartanburg on Thursday.

Dorman has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for James F. Byrnes, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Dorman was able to grind out a solid win over James F. Byrnes when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 55-45. Does Dorman have another victory up their sleeve, or will James F. Byrnes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
