The Draughn Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Owen Warhorses at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Draughn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.

Draughn is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since April 15, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Owen, falling 12-2. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Wildcats' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

For Owen's part, Sophie Neal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Neal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Roland, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Elly Wright was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Owen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Draughn only managed seven hits.

Draughn's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2. As for Owen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Draughn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Owen struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
