Softball Game Preview: Olympian Eagles vs. Madison Warhawks

The Olympian Eagles will take on the Madison Warhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Olympian has six straight wins, Madison has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Olympian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Hilltop on Monday.

Alexandra Perez looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olympian let Kailynn Robeson and Samantha Becerra run wild. Robeson went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Becerra went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Becerra a new career-high. Jacqui De Murguia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Olympian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Madison's offense. They came up short against Mira Mesa on Tuesday, falling 18-0.

Olympian pushed their record up to 12-12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Olympian took their victory against Madison when the teams last played back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
