Baseball Game Preview: New Riegel Blue Jackets vs. Gibsonburg Golden Bears

The New Riegel Blue Jackets will venture away from home to face off against the Gibsonburg Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (New Riegel 3.5, Gibsonburg 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, New Riegel needed a bit of extra time to put away Lakota. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Jackets have posted since April 25, 2024.

Meanwhile, Gibsonburg entered their tilt with Port Clinton on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Redskins. The result was nothing new for the Golden Bears, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

New Riegel is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gibsonburg, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.

New Riegel was able to grind out a solid victory over Gibsonburg when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Jackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
