Softball Game Preview: Santa Rita Eagles vs. Tombstone Yellow Jackets

The Santa Rita Eagles will face off against the Tombstone Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Santa Rita has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Tombstone will arrive with four straight wins.

Santa Rita fell victim to Willcox and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 23-0 to the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Tombstone made easy work of Benson on Thursday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Tombstone got a massive performance out of Bella Lopez, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Lopez has posted since back in April of 2024. Hayden Dobbins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Tombstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.

Tombstone pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Rita, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
