Millbury hit Wellesley with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders fell just short of the Woolies by a score of 5-4.
Elizabeth McDonnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Maya Lee made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaret Redgate, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Framingham lost 13-6 to Needham on Wednesday.
Cora Krejdovsky was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Chloe Nestor was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Wellesley's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Framingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Framingham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wellesley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Framingham, though, as they've only averaged .226. Will they be able to contain Wellesley's hitters?
